Rosewood Hotel Dining Terrace
Rosewood Hotel Dining Terrace
Surrounded by the Edwardian grandeur of this Grade II listed building, the courtyard of the Rosewood Hotel has been transformed by Luciano Giubbilei, award-winning garden designer, with whom I worked to design all the furniture, large planters and lighting for the scheme. Set within a delicate steel pergola, classically pruned London Plane trees create a natural canopy overhead, with soft clipped hedges and seasonal planting in bespoke willow planters around. Inside, a continuous slatted bench with in-built heating, and quilted blanket cushions provides luxurious comfort even on a cold day. Taking inspiration from the architectural detailing of the hotel, the Love Seats and Dining Chairs, have deep padded upholstered seats, and are made of natural untreated oak that will weather and grow more characterful with age.
Guatemalan green marble tables further add texture and a sense of permanence to the space. The distinctive forms on the large metal planters and surrounding metal screens echo the intricate ironwork in the hotel. Together they create a beautiful, calm, intimate, outdoor retreat, bringing the experience of a London garden into this city space.
