Rosewood Main
Rosewood London
Surrounded by the Edwardian grandeur of the Grade II listed building, the courtyard of the Rosewood hotel is transformed from car park to elegant outdoor drinking and dining room, a refuge from the busy city around. Set within a delicate steel pergola, classically pruned London Plane trees create a natural canopy overhead, while soft clipped hedges and seasonal planting in willow planters create a green wall around. The furniture, lighting and planters are integral to defining and creating the quality and experience of the space. Inspired by the architectural detailing of the hotel a signature curving shape unifies the design of the freestanding seating, marble tables, large bronze planters and mesh screens with integrated lights. A continuous slatted bench with in-built heating, and quilted blankets provide luxurious comfort even on a cold day. The chairs have deeply upholstered seats, and are made of natural untreated oak to weather and grow more characterful with age. Fluted glass lights hang from the pergola frame, designed to glow with the warmth of candle light. Designed in collaboration with Luciano Giubbilei.
